The company started operations in 2008 as Fujifilm’s global center for new drug development. Today, FUJIFILM Pharmaceuticals is conducting multiple clinical trials in conjunction with medical institutions and industry partners that share the same vision of contributing to the improvement of human health.
FUJIFILM Pharmaceuticals focus areas also include Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) services for drug delivery system (DDS) technologies and mRNA synthesis conducted by our valued partner, FUJIFILM Toyama Chemical Co., Ltd. Harnessing Fujifilm’s long-standing expertise in photographic film, FUJIFILM Pharmaceuticals offers FUJIFILM Toyama Chemical’s DDS technologies to help achieve higher therapeutic agent delivery to the targeted area while improving its stability in blood, resulting in precision treatment and care.
FUJIFILM Pharmaceuticals also markets proprietary ionizable lipids for DNA/RNA delivery for out-license. FUJIFILM Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc. is based in Greater Boston, Massachusetts.

Our partner company FUJIFILM Toyama Chemical Co., Ltd. is committed to helping society through its pharmaceutical business. The company is advancing our CDMO business for formulations using lipid nanoparticle (LNP), liposome, and other DDS technologies.
A new formulation manufacturing facility with commercial scale capabilities became operational in 2020. mRNA manufacturing services have been available since 2023.
